👉What are the arrangements for students’ arrival and departure?
We always make sure that the student will be warm received by friendly faces. We will personally greet the students if it is their first visit or our qualified drivers (thoroughly checked) will drive the students to school/ host family. Some schools themselves will arrange a bus service for the arrival of their international students. For children travelled as ‘unaccompanied minors’, the staff from the Airline will look after them throughout the flight and only release the children to the authorized representative against proof of identification. Travel during long leave and at end of term, we will arrange transportation to/ from airport, train and coach station. For minors who will require accompaniment, we will work closely with the school on the best arrangement.
👉How to arrange for the healthcare service?
Schools will have an in-house nurse and medical centre to care for the students. Also, students need to be registered with the local National Health Service (“NHS”) either directly or through the school. The NHS provides free medical services including hospitalization. Should there be major illness/ injuries, the school should urgently contact the guardian and undoubtedly we will involve the parents and report up-to-date progress.
👉How to arrange bank accounts and pocket money?
We will assist with the opening of bank accounts. Should you wish to provide your children with pocket money, it can be arranged by regular transfers to school’s accounts, the student’s own bank account or the account with us. We can also make occasional advances for exceptional needs but surely with the parent’s prior written consent.
👉How to monitor school performance?
Schools provide regular written reports on student’s academic progress. Typically there are three written academic reports a year, one at the end of each term, but the students are regularly assessed with grade marks for effort and achievement several times throughout each term. Annually, there will be parent-teacher meeting. We can either accompany the parents or attend on their behalf and provide a full report about the meeting. No school tolerates smoking, drinking alcohol or the use of drugs. We develop good communication with schools to ensure that the students are keeping the school regulations. However, in the event of temporary school suspension, we will arrange suitable pastoral care and closely involve the parents in helping the child.
👉 When is the need for host family and how is it arranged?
Most schools have two weekend breaks (exeats) and a half term during each of the three terms. These are the usual periods that students need to stay with the host family although some do fly home. We operate with an excellent network with the aim to provide the students with most appropriate pastoral care. Parents will be provided with the host family’s information and prior consent must be obtained before the placement. Usually, students have their own room and desk. They may also share rooms with friends or children of the host family as a way to develop social and interpersonal skill. Our goal is to provide a safe and happy environment for the students. Should there is a need for adjustment or change of host family, by all means let us know and we are flexible in providing best alternative.
👉How we cultivate relationship with the students?
At least twice a term, we meet with the students with the aim to listen to them in a relaxed manner, encourage openness in letting us know if they have any issues and share with them their achievement and enjoyable moments. Our top priority is their well-being during the stay in the UK and provide them with full support.
👉What happens in case of emergency?
We can be contacted 24/7 for emergencies. All relevant contact numbers will be provided to the parents, schools and student.
👉How to terminate the guardianship arrangement?
This will require a full term’s notice in writing. The initial deposit will be refunded or applied to settle outstanding reimbursements.
